The Faculty of Architecture at the University of Oporto
The Faculty of Architecture at the University of Oporto designed by Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza articulates the limits of an old farm near the River Douro, creating a large central space surrounded by the built volumes. This intervention shows great sensitivity to its context in communication with the river and the sea. Stairs and ramps provide access to different functional areas and levels. The apparent fragmentation of the volumes of the building, visible in the drawings of the project, regain their continuity in the circulation of the lower level.
